The Indian Association of Educational Therapists (IAET) is the first Professional Association established for Educational Therapists in India. It was formed on Teachers’ Day in 2014 by a team of Educational Therapists, Psychologists, Educationalists and Parents of Children with Special needs. IAET is registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, the Tamil Nadu Act of 27, 1975, vide Registration Number 182/2015 in the type of Science Society.
The main object of the association is to serve the Children with Special Needs through the Educational and Psychological interventions to facilitate the remediation of Learning Disabilities including Dyslexia, Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), etc. and to enhance the professionalism among educational therapists and mental health professionals.
We offer the services of Psychological and Psycho-educational assessment and educational therapy for Children with Special needs and mental health services for all through IAET Educational Therapy Centre. Professional Development Training programs on Educational Therapy, Thinkspire-Cognitive Skills Enhancement are undertaken for Professionals and Parents, and Psychodiagnostics for mental health professionals. We use the unique educational techniques, specially designed instruments and strategies and teach the skill of learning how to learn. We provide educational therapy services based on cognitive science for pre-primary to higher secondary children.
We conducted two five day Psychodiagnostics workshops at Loyola college campus, Chennai in February and August, 2017.
A flash flood had destroyed large parts of the city Chennai and its surrounding areas in
